High Protein Bug Berry Smoothie Recipe

We are stirring things up in the kitchen, and adding edible insects to your favourite dishes!

This smoothie is packed with mealworm protein and delicious fruits to keep you full, satisfied, and healthy. It's a great breakfast option if you exercise in the morning, and need to have a high protein recovery meal afterwards.


Mealworms also contain all nine essential amino acids and they are packed with essential vitamins, minerals, healthy fats and antioxidants. Truly nutritious!


Plus it's super easy to make, it takes less than 5 minutes, and most importantly, it's delicious!


SERVES: 1


INGREDIENTS:


  • 1 banana, sliced

  • 200g (7oz) frozen mixed berries

  • 30g (1oz) mealworms

  • 150ml (5oz) oat milk

  • 1 tsp honey


Please note, we used oat milk because it's a sustainable alternative to cow milk, and it adds a nice thickness to the smoothie. But you can use whichever milk you prefer!


METHOD:


Add the mealworms, banana, mixed frozen berries, honey and oat milk in a blender. Blend until smooth.
